Fight the demons to be stronger!

Haunting of Hill House (miniseries, 2018)

Gone are the days when the sole purpose of horror movies was to scare the living daylights out of you. Apparently, the 'boo' 😱 and scream factors used to be the determinants of success and failure of films in this genre. Things seem to have changed of late as they become more cerebral and start inculcating elements of psychology and existentialism in them.

This miniseries is quite engaging. It deals with how family members deal with something with something quite dark in their lives. It shows us how our coping mechanisms work to handle such a situation. It leaves unseen effects on our psyche and inter as well as intrapersonal relationships.

Unresolved childhood issues can sometimes lead to our destructive habits and failures in relationships. Destructive lifestyles like addictions, fear of opening up, being a control freak, depression and sexual pervasions can all find their etiologies in these past traumas.

Fear is nothing but unfilled desires and wishes that can never got to be fulfilled. We may appear all polished on the outside and fixed on the outside, beyond the skin-deep, it is just brittle china. Fear and love both hinges on relinquishment of logic. The only way to fight fear and embrace love is to plunge in wholeheartedly. There is no place no place for half-hearted attempts at embracing the encounter. Confront it, win it, become stronger combatting it, live sane in reality.

Featured post on IndiBlogger, the biggest community of Indian BloggersThis interesting flick tells it storyline in different timelines running concurrently in a most non-confusing manner. Even though everything is explained in the end, the viewers get a sense of what is in store. It is a remake but I sense that it must have deviated from the original story from the novel that it is based.

A few random thoughts did go through my mind whilst watching 'The Haunting of Hill House'. We have had seen many Hollywood offerings starting from 'Poltergeist' on how houses consume people and want to have autonomy of ownership of the space. Perhaps, this must be the basis of the ancient wisdom of Vastu Shashtra and Feng Shui. Places of worship and homes are built is a certain alignment so to appease negative vibes. These energies are said to be of electromagnetic in nature. The grid upon which it is laid and the placing of specific metals is beneficial. Testimony of this is the location of ancient Shiva temples in India along with a certain latitude.

My other observation is the concept of time working not in a linear fashion. There are theories that reality is a construct of our consciousness. Alternative universes and alternate realities exist. Maybe our death brings our 'soul' to another realm. The synchronicity that many of us believe may indeed a real thing. The tinkering of events may be possible if we could tap into this dimension.
